I very much recommend traveling with a group for this trip to mix up the conversation and keep the energy levels high when spending a lot of time in cars, on trains and on planes. We had a group of four for the whole trip, and then met up with additional friends in London. I would say, as long as you can fit your number of people in a rental van or SUV, then you should be good to go!
My itineraries are made with a focus on doing, eating & drinking, which leads to seeing! Make plans easier. The editable templates allow you to add in your own personality, interests and adventures. Or simply download the PDF for a ready to go version. Enjoy!
Notes for consideration:
- Try to take public transit in London, as the ride share services and cabs can get expensive.
- Bring a deck of cards! It was a great way to include an activity during our pub crawls.
- For long driving days, ensure you have snacks and plenty of water available!
- Wear layers when up North in Scotland and Ireland. Even though it was Summer, I wore a combination of a t-shirt, scarf, jacket and sweater all in one day.
- If you get car sick, consider asking your doctor some nausea patches or medicine. I wasn’t too bad, but I probably should’ve had something for our major driving day.
- Bring adapters, GPS navigation, portable speakers and rain jackets.
